Not so long ago, I was told of a magical town called "Wem". Just "Wem". That's all. That's the name that reduced me to tears (not from an emotional breakdown, just from laughing). The name never fails to amuse me. I found out about this in April and I still can't even say the word without at least smiling.
In the same county you can find some other 'interesting' towns. There's one called "Clun", and another called "Much Wenlock" (Kerri asked: "Why so much Wenlock!?"). Elsewhere, you can find the great "Crackpot" and "Cockburnspath"...yeah, where do these names come from?
Kerri and I decided to take a tour of Crackpot on Street View. There's not much to it really, but there is a B&B, because everyone flocks to Crackpot for a weekend away.
I later found out that Cockburnspath is pronounced 'Co-Burns-Path'...so that was a slight disappointment.
I actually spent some time last night just 'Google-Earthing' Britain to find some interesting names. You would think it would be due to boredom, but no, this is just what I do, I guess.
So, there'll be a new blog post...Wemever I can (see what I did there?...oh wow...I hate myself, lol)
